Why do you believe the miracle claims of Christianity and not other religions? Isn’t this special pleading? Skeptics pretend that if we accept some miracle claims as valid, that we must suddenly accept them all. But as Erik Manning points out in this article that is a ridiculous idea.

I have no problem with other religions having a few miracles. The people are actual people. God acts in the world. One might ask if miracles happened to Moses or did they happen to the pharaoh.
Another worry I have is Matthew 25. this Idea that we are born again flies in the face of Christs words. We have our modern philosophy of what its all about but Jesus looks people strait in the eye and says, if you do not help the poor and hurting you are not entering the kingdom of God. It flies in the face of this Idea that salvation is free. What it is saying is, you get your salvation free but are you changed, is your heart actually born again such that your actions are different.
People wonder why the prayers are not answered. I would suggest many are but some are not because the heavens are like brass, God is looking down in disappointment.
We then might say, why did that guy get a miracle. Why would some cult get a miracle, when God is simply acting in the world. What we should say is why am I not getting the biggest miracle possible. Why am I not going to live in heaven. Jesus has some words for us all. while Galatians 3 has its merits, its actually used wrong to suggest a slippery gospel when it is about what saves you. Paul never was shy about 1 Cor 6:9
My point is, the landscape for miracles is parched not because God is not capable. I would suggest because those praying do not have in mind the things of God or grasp his character. The Idea of Prayer for this is the ask to help the needy, yet these people are not obsessed with helping the needy themselves. Jesus is looking at us in the eye and asking, what is it to you if I do a miracle over here or over there. You follow me. You don’t have the capital spiritually to question what is going on.

Your excuse also contradicts the claim of your supposed savior when he says that anything that is prayed for will be granted.

Saying that someone doesn’t have right to question is what any dictator says.

Matthew 18 is about a prophetic change in covenants running back all the way to Abraham. I have found when praying about things about the church about Gods work, there is far more action. But this pray for my needs all the time when not having in mind the things of God ends poorly for the one asking. Some guy in Acts wanted to buy the ability to cast out demons, and he got a stern talking too. While God helps people, prayer on a ongoing basis is about being on his team. God is not our butler, be we are his. He is not our creation, we are his. we did not die on the cross for him” He died on the cross for us. the whole thing is messed up. James 1,2 shows that.
Jesus never moved one single mountain, and No one ever has. Yet, the change of governance from the Jews to the church to the whoever would follow him is a moved mountain. the whole prophecy of Jesus coming was that every mountain would be laid low and every valley filled to make strait paths for him. the terminology is about Gods preparation of the things needed for his will to be accomplished. I have found that if you are in the will of God, doing his work, every thing will work out. You still might get martyred but that doesn’t mean Gods will isn’t being done. Every Apostle except one was Martyred. And yet, here we are today still teaching about the kingdom of God.

And the final part of it, God gives good gifts ended with God giving his spirit. And God does, but if you do not love your brother the love of God, the spirit of God is not in you. 1 John 4:7-8. So, while its all there, there is a whole lot riding on us.
Jesus said that the rich cannot enter the kingdom of God. they said who then can be saved, Jesus said, its not possible. We skip past and want to say, with God all things are possible. yes they are. But they are highly improbable. The cross is the gift, but people love darkness rather than light. People fail to read before and after John 3:16. You will be able to hear a pin drop at the pearly gates when Jesus, repeatedly says, I don’t know you. Nope. I don’t know you. Nope Don’t know you. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The biggest mountain that needs to be moved is the one in our hearts.
we can look all we want about miracles in other religions and they really are moot.

prayer doesn’t work if you are in contempt. That said, even a small step toward God will be answered. if you for example talked with God, with a bit of humility you would get more than you bargained for. But God resists the proud. He is not the one in the fish tank you are.

so, you seem to be trying to say that everyone who has ever prayed has been “in contempt” since no prayers have been answered. That is nothing more than blaming the victim to excuse your god’s failure.

Like most Christians, you’ve come up with interpretations that aren’t what is being said in the bible. Matthew 18 is a promise that prayers will be answered, *any* prayer. And prayer never ends up good or poorly, but nothing happening at all. That is just an attempt at intimidation that doesn’t exist in the bible.

Prayer could indeed be said to be on this god’s team, and it isn’t surprising that the promises that your savior supposedly made never come true since this god doesn’t exist. The argument that we aren’t this god’s “butler” but we are its, doesn’t work with what Jesus supposedly promised. If one believes the bible, we are indeed this god’s creation and this savior promised that prayer would work for anything asked of him. You try to rewrite what the bible says since it fails.
The author of James is stuck with failed claims and making excuses for them. That author also makes promises that fail “13 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its harvest.” So, where are the Christians who can heal? They never show up at hospices or hospitals do they?
The whole thing is indeed messed up. We have a god that either intentionally allowed its archenemy into “eden” or was too incompetent to keep it out. Then this god tried repeatedly to get things straightned out, and failed, finally deciding that a torture sacrifice is what it needed.
Nope, Jesus never moved a mountain. Jesus Christ, son of God is a fictional character. And nope, no one ever has since that promise was false as were the others. It was made up just like every myth. We have Jews and Christians and they are both quite sure that they are right and claim the others wrong with no evidence to support their claims of “truth”. No mountains being leveled, no valleys being filled (well, coal mines do that).
You claim that if you are in the “will of God” things will work out. Funny how plenty of Christians claim that and things don’t work out, so again your claims fail. This god fails in its promise to take care of its followers like the birds and the flowers. It’s only Christians who make up excuses for that failure. Yep, people were martyred, no evidence for the supposed apostles even existing, and that happens to believers of many religions; it certainly doesn’t show any belief to be true. Nothing special here.
Your god gives nothing, no evidence of this. All you have is a promise that if you are dead, then you get the presents. Convenient isn’t it, something that has no evidence. People love each other all of the time and you and your god aren’t need.

Again, your bible says that your god makes some people unable to accept it (Romans 9), so these people aren’t loving darkness, this god is forcing them too. What a dictator your god is. As for “gnashing of teeth”, that’s just a baseless threat. Your religion depends on ignorance and fear. The miracles of other religions are just like yours, imaginary.

Lots of prayers are answered, but apparently not yours. shucks I couldn’t figure out why. Actually its pretty obvious. Obviously you have the roll reversed, God is God we are the little guy. He tells us what to do, we do not tell him. We ask him.

As for me, I have had at least 20 miracles in my life. I counted on the way home the other day. And some direct answers to prayer in less than 2 hrs in a couple cases less than 30 minutes.

What I do point out is that you accept miracles for the same reason other theists do, and *none* of you have any evidence that miracles have ever happened or continue to happen. Christians discount miracles from other gods for the same reason I discount their claims: no evidence. Some Christians also try to claim “all” miracles are from their god, in an attempt to claim everything for their “team”, and some Christians claim that miracles attributed from other gods are “really” demons, which would make one wonder why something harmful by definition is doing helpful things.
I’ve had more than a couple of Christians insist that miracles don’t happen any more, and quite a few that insist that they do. Since Christians again don’t agree, and have no evidence for miracles, there is no reason to believe their claims or the claims of any other theists.
There is no evidence that any god or man or combination thereof resurrected. All we have are baseless claims in the bible and from believers. Christians disagree on what gets one “saved” and what their god wants. That Christians disagree on the most basic things and then promptly claim any Christians other than their version aren’t “really” Christians makes this atheist (and former Presbyterian) have no need to think any of you are telling any truth.

I have had several miracles happen to me in my life. There is no doubt in my mind that God is with me every day. But he is not a vending machine, He is my God I am not his. He is the king, I am the servant. Its not all about me.

many theists of all times make the same claim, hoax, and none of you can show that any god was involved in any event. Many Christians make the “vending machine” claim and that is an excuse invented by Christians who have a god that does nothing. When it fails you need to have a reason why. You assign its action to coincidence and the hard work of humans. No god needed.

I find Leslie’s criteria in this article to be quite curious. The creation of monuments in support of a sincerely held belief seems completely irrelevant to the veracity of that belief. Similarly the persistence of behavior based upon a sincere belief is irrelevant to the veracity of that belief.
Epistemologically speaking, Leslie’s criteria are fairly awful.

If you think a different religion’s God is inconsistent with the God you believe in then your religion tends to close the floodgates to believing in their miracles. Ultimately you have to weigh the evidence supporting the miracles attributed to their god against those of your own. If the evidence favors your God then that evidence is evidence against a miracle happening for an incompatible God.
