I do not have enough faith to be an atheist. I read McDowell in the 70s and believed before I read because I accepted Jesus as God before I became an adult.

I like to differentiate between rational faith, which everyone exercises to some extent, including atheists (no one saw life form from non-living chemicals) and irrational faith which is what the atheist accuse us of having. I then argue that Christianity is a more rational faith than atheism.

Yes, Faith is defined sometimes as “belief in what is UNseen,” but this must be based upon what also CAN be seen.
The smaller aspects of Faith in what IS seen create a foundation for the larger aspects, which are so far UNseen.
The only “blindness” then is the willingness to trust in the completion of those promises.
We have Faith in the Whole and Completed Story of God, because we believe what we have seen, unfolding around us, as the beginnings and foundation for that Story.
