Not at all, a lot of people think the Bible is a peaceful book but it’s not it’s full of wars that had to done to establish peace

As a law enforcement officer, I carried a sidearm for many years. I never shot anyone but used it in the course of lawful arrests and to defuse potential violence or threats. However, law enforcement aside, there is for me the greater question of love and obligstion. For example, can any man truly say he loves his wife and children if he is not willing to employ deadly physical force to prevent a rape or grievous injury?
I say love will defend! As for the perpetrator, I say “you reap what you sow”.

You hit the nail on the head when you placed the use of deadly force in terms of love and obligation. This seems a paradox but love and obligation not life and property or just war theory are the correct justifications for Christians using deadly force.
Pacifism puts self-righteousness in the place of love for the safety and well being of others.

I’d definitely say no. While “thou shalt not kill” is a commandment, the Bible doesn’t state you can’t protect yourself, with deadly force, if need be. Jesus wasn’t a pacifist when he overturned the money changers tables. While many things can be negotiated or there’s a time to pick your battles, not everyone responds kindly or willingly to necessary change and it can take a stronger hand to make that happen.

Great recommended reading! I learned something “The Hebrew word for “murder” literally means “the intentional, premeditated killing of another person with malice.” Thanks!

Haden, not having read a lot of your posts yet, but are you trying to accomplish belief for you or others?
One only has to have read the Word of God to know that pacifism is not even a part of Christianity. WE as Christians are to try and be at peace with all people, but of course most of the world hates Christians as they hated Jesus Christ.
